“Rob, why is Bobby awake and getting dressed?” Gloria asked as she stepped into the kitchen where her husband stood drinking a cup of coffee.
Robert took another sip of his coffee, “I’m taking him to work with me today, I’m not sure why, but I just had this feeling that today should be the day. We were discussing this last week, were we not?” He smiled at his lovely wife with her robe haphazardly thrown on, hair still a mess and face unadorned with makeup.
She tiredly smiled back, more of a smirk than anything, and thought about the discussion that had indeed taken place a week prior, “Yes, I suppose we did. I just would have thought we could have set a date first, I would have had him in bed much earlier last night had I known.
“Oh, well, good morning sweetheart,” she said as she bent over and kissed her son on the forehead as he walked into the room all dressed and ready to go, “you must be so sleepy still, and hungry too.”
Robert finished the last bits of coffee remaining in his mug before striding over to his wife, “Well, we’ve got to be on the road, darling. He can get something out of the machine at work to keep him happy until lunch rolls around. Today our son gets to see what a life of work is like!”
“That’s a happy thought,” she remarks sarcastically, “like work is such a great part of life, hah!”
Robert merely ignored the comment, he truly loved his work and took much pride in what it was that he did each and everyday in order to support his family. He grabbed his son’s hand and they walked off towards the garage, got in the vehicle then headed off into the day.
